13-56 Medium 80/20 Bronze

$10.63
80/20 Bronze wound strings are often called old-school, vintage and/or bright bronze and were the most popular (only) alloy used to make acoustic strings until the introduction of phosphor in the early Seventies. 80/20 bronze wire is made from 80 percent copper and 20 percent zinc. 80/20 bronze provides balanced highs and lows with a slight increase in mid-range that seems the make the notes cut-through a little more.

80/20 Mediums
5 Stars

My string basket has everything in it. Thom-I's, Dunlops, D'Addarios, etc. I have a bunch of nice guitars from the 30's to modern era, 0 size to Jumbo, and until I tried these 13-56 strings I felt schizophrenic about string hopping. I tune down a step, D-D, for extra vocal range, so even the lightly braced acoustics are OK with mediums. While I do use D'Addario nickel bronze for my velvety 18 yr old Martin mahogany 000-15S 12 fretter for a little extra zing, I've been swapping out everything else with these Curt Mangans. The perfect balance from day 1 across the strings is impressive, and the long term stability for maintaining that level makes me look forward to the day when the basket has just a pile of these ready to go. I'm waiting for a Martin, coming down from the Custom Shop, and can't wait to hit it with the Mangans. Searched forever-tried most-found the best for my guitars. Nice job, Curt and Co.

The Ideal!

I really enjoy the sound of these 80/20 medium strings on my small jumbo Rockbridge guitar with an Adi top. They have a transparent sound and don't alter the natural tone of the instrument. I have compared them to phosphor bronze strings and personally prefer the sound of bronze for playing singer-songwriter style music on an acoustic guitar. Great job, Kurt and team!

Great Strings
5 Stars

Like the .12s, these things give an acoustic guitar everything it needs to sound like it was designed to. Lots of strings give those over the top harmonics at the expense of fundamental, but if you want to hear the note you play loud and gutsy - these are the strings for you. Excellent on shorter scale (24.9") acoustics particularly.
