Custom Built Nickel Plated Steel Signature Plain 3rd

Posted by Matt Boynton on 4th Dec 2017

Curt's strings are as good as anything out there and the gauge selection can't be beat. I was finally able to make the perfect set of strings that were not only balance well, string to string, but that also were right in between 9s and 10s tension-wise. I will continue to use Curt's strings for as long as they make them.

    For the hard-to-please

Posted by Alec on 12th Jan 2017

I'd long been dissatisfied with the feel of other strings: 9.5 sets felt too floppy on the wound strings while 10s were too stiff on the plain strings. With custom sets, I can get the tension on each string optimized for my playing style. Having my name on each pack is a nice stroke of the ego, too.

    My New Brand

    Posted by @GuitarPublisher on 11th May 2016

I have been using Tomastik-Infeld Power Brights professionally as a full-time musician for the last 12 years. After recent suspicions of quality loss, and incessantly rising prices for their strings, I finally started to look elsewhere. Brand loyalty kept me in as long as it did, but c'mon already on the price!
I am so glad I found Curt Mangan mentioned on a forum discussion online. I'm surprised I haven't come across this brand before. After visiting their website and seeing they are USA made I inquired further. I received same day replies to my questions, and learned that I can make custom gauged sets. Too cool! I had to order a box. I figured if I didn't love them I could use them on office guitars or gift them to students as practice incentives.
I am happy to say that I will be using these strings exclusively on my PRS 2005 McCarty, and 2006 Custom Shop LP for shows and gigs. These strings have a wonderful tone, and an equally wonderful playing experience. My first set still looks and sounds brand new after practicing for a week on them and doing a couple 3-set shows on them two nights in a row. I couldn't be happier with the product, and am looking forward to making these my new brand of choice. Thank you!

Excellent Quality Strings and Great Service

Posted by Bill Duff on 29th Jan 2014

I saw a link to this company and decided to try them. I ordered a custom gage set that suited my desire for a bit more thickness in tone for my guitars. It is also cool that they custom print the cover with the buyer's name. I placed the order late one evening. The very next day I received an email confirmation. I liked the attention to detail and quick response. The strings were shipped soon after that and again, I received an email telling me they wee shipped. I received them quickly and put a set on my favorite "go to" guitar right away. They sound fantastic and stay in tune exceptionally well! I just played a gig last night with that guitar and our sound tech commented that my tone was excellent. I plan to purchase another dozens sets when I get half way through this first order.

    The Perfect Set

Posted by Richard on 9th Jan 2014

String gauge is subjective but that being said, this option allowed me to create exactly what i wanted. Not only that but it was shipped within a day of being ordered, was very impressed by this.... i figured it would have taken at least a couple days to be shipped but nope... they got it out the next day. The set i did was 10.5-14-18P-30W-42-52 in Nickel Wound and they sound and feel amazing on my strat... perfect!

    Great strings that last

Posted by Unknown on 29th Nov 2013

I need strings that last and use a non-standard guage set. These are the best option I have come across at a very respectable cost for the product. I highly suggest that this is the way to go if you have similar needs.

Flat out the best Nickel Wound

Posted by Jeremy T on 12th Sep 2013

These sound great, play great, are great. I have tried them all and this is all is use, they don't break, bed in quickly and have great tone. I use a hybrid set of 10's with a 52 bottom E and always had to buy sets and throw away the 46 but now Curt Mangan allow you to make up the set you want. What a fantastic idea why did not one do it before!!! it seems obvious but it took Curt to do it.
