These strings are as "vintage" as you can get. Pure nickel wrap on a round tin-plated, high carbon steel core. Many players believe that round core strings have a feel easier to play with less tension and have a clearer tone. By design, round core strings must be handle carefully so that the outer winding does not come lose. On guitars that have a an eye in the tuning post, it is important to install the string and tune to pitch before cutting the excess string off. On guitars where the tuning post has a hole down the center which require the string to be cut prior to placing the string down the post hole, it is important that you first make a 90 degree bend before cutting the string. It best to make that 90 degree bend about two inches longer than the post where you will be installing the string. Once you have made the bend leave about one-half inch before cutting the string then place the bent section inside the tuning post and tune to pitch. Be aware that it takes longer for a round core strings to "settle" in and it requires many more tugs, but once installed and settled in, they are amazing.

With Covid prevalent, i haven't been gigging much this past year but i have been recording a lot. An hour in headphones can be worth ten on stage as to actually hearing yourself play. I LOVE these strings...and it's not overstatement to say that the tone of Curt Mangan strings is inspiring. I am always eager to get to the guitar these days. Line direct, clean amp, or blown up sounding amp, these strings shine.

I've become something of a convert to round core strings and CM makes superb RC strings. They last a long time, feel great, sound great and stay in tune well. They work equally well with single coils and humbuckers, Fender and Gibson scales. Whenever I put a set of hex-core strings from a ubiquitous brand on my guitar, I always have a little pang of disappointment that they'e not CM strings.

I tried these strings on a Strat and was impressed with the tone and feel of them so I ordered more, and they sound amazing on every one of my guitars. Bright and mellow tone that is rich and full with great intonation. These strings are amazing!
