    GREAT STRINGS

Posted by Lannie Hilboldt on 13th Feb 2025

I learned of Curt Mangan strings from Brady Muckelroy from whom I purchased 2 custom basses. Brady puts Curts stings on all his basses and now for the last several years so do I. The feel of the strings is really incredible allowing me to be very expressive with them, vibrato etc helping to shape the tone, and the clarity of the strings is outstanding. I get compliments on most gigs because of the clarity to my sound and it's mostly because of Curt's strings. I can dial in fat tones or higher end and they all sound great. Thanks for making a great product.

    40-100 Nickel Bass Strings

Posted by Jeff Ottney on 13th Jun 2024

As someone who has gone nearly broke trying every brand of bass string in search of the ultimate tone quest, I can honestly declare the Curt's are the best. And by best, I mean a combination of feel, tone, price, longevity, and vibe. I use a Sadowsky NYC bass, and I want great strings for a high-quality bass. The key to testing strings is playing above the 12th fret on the E & A strings. While other brands of strings may sound good below the 12th fret, they often will sound a bit weird in the position I just described. If you value consistency in your tone and thus in your playing, trust Curt's bass strings. Your listeners--as well as your own ears--will appreciate it.

    40-100 Nickel Bass Set 4-String

Posted by PAUL J SANTA SANTA MARIA on 6th Dec 2021

Great strings. Since finding out that Curt Mangan even existed 2 years ago (from a trusted bigtime luthier) I have used Curt's string for bass and guitar exclusively. They are on all my releases from 2020 to now, which is around 200 songs! I even talked to Curt once by calling and we spoke for over an hour about all-things-strings and I did not introduce myself as someone famous or something - just a guy asking questions and talking music. Very cool, strings bright and resilient. When using the locking method (U around the string at the post) they stay in tune with the best ever that I have used. Much cheaper than Elixirs and last about as long. I'm not changing back and I even buy them as gifts for excellent students to get them started. Shout out to Samantha Cathcart for making a Christmas card for me when I said a recent order was a gift!) Who the heck else does that??? (:

    Best strings ever

Posted by David A Galante on 5th Aug 2021

I have trying different strings for years and have finally found what I believe are the best on the market for tone, playability and longevity. I have Curt Mangan NickelWounds on on both my four- and five-string basses and could not possibly be more satisfied. Just give them a try.

    Fusion Matched 40-100 bass strings/45-100

Posted by Robert Boyce on 6th Jun 2021

I well-made string that holds pitch and presents a slightly aggressive attack. This response works well for low action and a less aggressive finger attack. The winding is slightly larger than some strings allowing for less fret buzz with a nice silvery glide feel.

    Best Stings I've Found

Posted by Erik Serrell-Dube on 30th Apr 2020

A few years back I was turned on to Curt's strings at a local guitar shop. These are the only strings I have used since then. The tone is clear and articulate. They feel balanced and respond well to timbre. And they last ta-boot. I have not been disappointed with Curt's strings.

I have using CM strings for a year now and they have replaced almost every other string on my guitars and basses. Fast shipping, consistently great tone, and long life time will keep me coming back.

great strings for a good price

I´m using Curt Mangans since 2009, and i just can say they are tonally perfectly balanced on every electric bass, and let your fingertips feel good. Besides that the price is ok. I can recommend them to every bass player !
