Curt started writing songs almost immediately after he began playing guitar at age 10. His first paid performance came at age 13 and he received his first recording contract at age 17. From 1970-1980, Curt released several independent projects that were released and distributed on his own labels. Several songs received national attention from major record companies and were reported to Billboard magazine as radio add-ons.
Curt’s influences are wide. Early influences were Ernest Tubbs, Hank Williams, Leroy Van Dyke, Chet Atkins and Chuck Berry. Later influences included the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, James Taylor, Danny O’Keefe, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Jesse Colin Young, Mickey Newberry, Poco, Loggins and Messina and the Eagles.
This album is Curt’s first release since 1980. He has always wanted to do a simple one guitar, one vocal “singer/songwriter” project. This album was recorded live over two days in June 2011 at Eagle Sound located in Durango Colorado. Some of the songs are almost 40 years old and some are brand new.
