String Length: 43 inches
Nickel-Plated Steel wound strings were introduced in the late Sixties and have become the most popular alloy for electric guitars and bass. Nickel-plated steel tends to offer the most balanced tone.
Nickel Wound strings are created by wrapping Nickel-Plated Steel alloys around a hex-shaped core wire which is made from tin-plated high-carbon steel (same as plain strings, but hex-shaped). The “core-to-wrap” ratio is the combined diameters of the core wire and the wrap wire which creates the overall diameter of the string.

Just played my first gig using Curt Mangan strings. They felt and sounded great!
So far so good! I'm anxious to try these strings out in the studio in a couple weeks .
9.5 - 44
Great tone.. not too bright, with sweet midrange..Perfect set for anyone wanting something smaller then 10s but finds 9s too small.
Amazing set.
Very well balanced set. Was worried that the .44 would be too small, but its perfect for the set.
Awesomeness lies between 9 & 10
These strings occupy that perfect space, when you need something beefier than a 9, but don’t want to go all the way to a 10. Just like all other of Curt’s products, these sound great, hold their tune and last longer than the competition. I can’t recommend Curt Mangan enough; his passion produces a string that is worth considerably more than he charges. Put aside all of the pretty ads that you see online or in the magazines; where do you think they get the money to fund those adverts? Curt keeps it simple and the product is purer for it. Try them. You won’t regret it!
Finally, a "middle way"
Why one of the "big names" didn't think to come up with a set of these gauges years ago is anyone's guess, but I'm grateful that they're available from Curt. Easier to bend than the conventional .010-.046, but more mass and better clarity from the unwound strings than any .009 set I've played.
Big difference or all in my head?
I recently ordered many of these strings and I was pretty shocked at the difference they made to my tone. I had been using ernie ball regular slinkey strings, but I find that these curt mangan strings have an improved clarity, sustain, and note articulation. To give a background, I have been playing guitar for roughly 10 years, and have recently started to tour professionally. I run schecter guitars (c1+ and a c1-classic) through various pedals and into an Engl Powerball 2 with a marshall 1960 cab loaded with celestion gt-75's. If you aren't quite sure about them, just get a set to try. You won't regret it!
